I can only speak of my situation (it may differ for you), but my car's getting a new set of keycards (3 in total), plus they will be programmed to the ecu (which I would presume will get a 'new' coding to render the old ones obsolete. The emergency lock on the passenger door (under the cover at the handle) is also getting replaced and will match up with the emergency keys in the new keycards. This will mean that no opportunist will be able to open the car or start it up using the keycard or key that was lost.

All in all, I would reckon that this is costing a good few hundred (that's me had a week's car hire so far, and the car's still away). So the final bill may be closer to a grand - but not for me.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
