Given all your excellent posts regarding the pros, I will look to obtaining one from a breakers. The tray you are referring to is the engine under tray not the bumper under tray I think. Mine was badly split, with the bolts missing in places and just wired up. Looking at the state of it it has at some time been dragged along the road having come off or nearly off. It was also very oily. I have work to do in engine bay before putting car on road so gives me time to source a replacement, which shouldn't be hard given the amount of lags being scrapped.
