I went for the resistor pack and loom upgrade. Got the parts from Renault for the usual high price. I thought getting genuine parts would make it a simple fix but the new loom was all purple wires. Have a quick look at my post (just above yours) I have discussed with another member of the forum how to splice the new loom into the existing one. I think he got his from the heaterblowerresistor people you mentioned.
The hardest part of the job is getting your hand in the little gap to the right of the speedo and getting the resistor pack in and out basically working blind.
Any further information you require I will try to help. Since I did the resistor pack and loom on mine I have had no further problems. (Touch wood)
