My Vel Satis won't start, upon reading other threads i've already changed the battery, checked all electrical connections, the starter motor is fine and cleared airbox, put a new diesel filter in, diesel pump is working fine. So car is cranking but just not starting, what other possible solutions could there be?

I have a habit of buying broken Vel Satis'.

My last was a 2.2 dCi with a failed turbo. It went through a phase of not starting... but it wouldn't even turn over, it just made a click noise. It couldn't even be jumped, but a new battery sorted it. Obviously you've already tried that.

Is the immobiliser light in between the fuel and temp gauges flashing rapidly?

hi, i have tried cleaning the tdc sensor but unfortunately this did not work. Also the immobiliser light is not flashing rapidly. The car cannot be jump started,it almost starts everytime you push the button and a small bit of smoke comes out of the exhaust but it does'nt fully engage.Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

hi, sorry i thought i cleaned the tdc sensor but it appears not. A friend looked at car and told me i had cleaned something else, so sorry guys, could anyone help me and explain where exactly i can locate the tdc sensor, and if i need to remove other parts first to do this.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi folks, finally solved the problem and would to thank everyone who replied to help me, i've attached a few photo's of what it was just incase anyone has the same issue. No idea what you call the valve so if anyone reads this who knows please reveal all. The valve was in the open position and all i did was close it. quite annoying considering 2 new batteries and a trip to 2 garages (even renault didn't fix it-and charged for the priviledge)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU .. for this information Andrew Courtney ... EXACTLY the same thing was happening to my Vel Satis .. (We were about to go and purchase a new battery) but read your post did as you explained.. (Thank you for the pics as would never have found it otherwise) and car is now purring beautifully.

Am wondering if it something to do with the cold weather that makes this happen??

Anyway, a very BIG thank you to you Andrew ... very much appreciated.
