Horn wiring

Does anyone know how to wire the horn in an aftermarket steering wheel, Does one wire go to earth? when i connected the two wires together to test they frazzled (vauxhalls used to work like that) any ideas?

By connecting to the wires together you created a short circuit, that is why they "frazzled". The "current" didn't flow through anything, in this case the horn.
Not knowing the layout of your vehicle or steering wheel but normally one wire would be earthed the other would supply the horn. As long as the horn itself is earthed as well,the bracket for the horn itsel is usually metal and this bolts straight on to a metal part of the car.
