First of all a very BIG thank you to peo1987 for this post!

It gave me the solution to my broken drivers window! My window had been working fine and then it went up one day and would not work again!! So after searching the forum I found the above post!

So yesterday I took my door apart :d! I removed the door trim panel, in order to find the window mechanism. The inside of the door was very damp and the box itself was very wet.
The yellow arrow is the back of the speaker and the red arrow is the actually control box!

So I pulled out the wiring plug at the bottom of the box (yellow arrow) but then had to unbolt the motor from the door in order to undo the screw at the red arrow and the one on the opposite side of the box!

In order to fully remove the box, the wires at the top have to be removed. So pull up the black cover, but be careful of the small square seal surrounding this bit and unclip the wires.

Once I had the box out I uncliped the cover (red arrows). There are 5 in all, 2 on each side and 1 on the edge. They are really hard to unclip... some swearing may be necessary..:p. Please make sure the seal is kept safe! (yellow arrow)

Once I removed the circuit board it was obvious to see where the water had corroded it! (yellow arrows)

But I then sprayed just the corroded area with WD40 and left it upright to drain off the excess. I then put the box back together covering the seals with silcone. And refitted it to the car!!

Window now works fine :d:sunny:. I am so pleased, once again this forum has saved me a lot of money!

I wonder if anyone can help. I have recently aquired a 2008 Megane 2 ,4 door. The drivers window disapeared into the door after the cable broke. I managed to source a mechanism with motor(new). I have fitted it and now the window goes the opposite direction to the the switch selection. I cant calibrate it either. I have sent off for a repair kit for the original mechanism to try and restore it to the original operating condition but in the meantime would appreciate any suggestions on the current state of operation. It was fine before the cable broke. Could it have damaged the electronic module on the motor?

Heather and other contributors! I have the same problem and a quotation from my local Norauto (French Halfords) of 330 euros to replace the motor. Does anyone have any experience of the replacement regulators on offer on ebay?
These appear to offer a cheaper alternative but none of you mention them and I have read a negative criticism that I can no longer locate. If I remember it raised the possibility of a fire hazard.
Any advice and or suggestions would be gratefully received.

It was probably MY negative post. For £16 ebay ones you get a relay box which will make the window work.
BUT you LOSE the auto close on deadlock AND the anti trap feature which could save a kiddies fingers.
I got a full assembly from a Nottingham Scrappy for £35.
If you are talking about a TEMIC unit, they can be repaired, although mine didn't last long after my repair.

Ah ha!

So it sounds like the problem with mine is because some previous owner has fitted a non-standard part...?

Symptoms:
NSF electric window goes up and down fine manually (i.e. half press on the switch) but stops dead when the switch is pressed all the way up or down (i.e engaging the one shot lowering/raising facilty)
The window has no working anti-pinch function and does not raise automatically if open when deadlocked (the other windows/roof do close correctly)
The window in question also strangely be lowered/raised even when the ignition is switched off (the other windows can't)

Tried but failed solutions:
Well documented window reset procedure (hold switch in up position with window closed for 10 seconds.
Disconnect battery/reconnect battery

So what's the best way (parts) to restore proper functionality?

Cheers for your help

Nottnoc! Thank you for a very quick reply and the warning. You are certainly the one star critic! I managed to find you again on Amazon. There is a repair service advertised on Amazon offering a guarantee. Could that be the one you tried? Could you name and recommend your Nottingham scrappy?
Thanks again for your advice.

Intruiging, I haven't posted on Amazon, nor bought car bits from them. As an electronics engineer I had a go at doing it myself, worked for a while, but was probably too corroded inside.
The scrappy is "Bits at Micks" they have a website.
Narrow Street, very busy, parking is a b'stard.
There is a French reg Scenic in the corner, NO engine.
don't nick the offside front seat, I need the trim from it.

JWC, google for Temic & Unit see if yours looks like theirs. Not cheap, but LOTS less than Renault.

Hi All

I'm working through a list of fixes on the megane II that I recently acquired, after fixing the issue of having no boost from the turbo, thanks to the people on this forum I am now going to take a look at the windows. It's an 05 convertible, the drivers window occasionally works fine but at times it will go down but not back up, if I pull the switch up slowly it does come up, I have taken the unit off get motor that everyone is having issues with on here but I see no evidence of water ingress at all, I gave it a spray with switch cleaner anyway and time will tell. The main issue is that the rear windows cannot be opened from the drivers switch or the rear switches, they do however work from the switch on the centre console that opens and closes ALL the windows, they also work when putting the roof up and down. Do you think this is a regulator issue? Or could it be the drivers door switch and/or the child lock button on it?

Cheers

I have experienced similar problems with my front windows. I tried to follow the advice given here but, to be frank, I couldn't make any progress as I couldn't get the interior door panel off!!!

In desperation I took it to my friendly local garage... they discovered (eventually!) that the problem was not the printed circuit as detailed here, but corrosion in one of the connections linking the control to the motor... in the connection "just below the harness".

This happens, they tell me, because water getting into the door runs over this connector; there is no protector to screen the electrics!

Hope this is helpful to anyone having issues with their electric windows!

Following the remedial action I took (see below), my driver's window has gone again... this tie it's that the window will only go down regardless of how you operate the switch, which is weird in itself.

However, I've discovered that if your window is stuck open like this, double-locking the car causes all windows to automatically close, solving the immediate security problem. Can't work out why it took me so long to discover this!!

Hi, The rear window on my 04 Megane estate got stuck in the open position. I purchased a replacement for the module, one off ebay not the original. Still no joy, I took the motor of the opening mechanism and put a 12v feed to it on the bench and it span. I'm getting power to the motor leads out of the module when the switch is actuated. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Having similar issues with temics on my Scenic 2005.
A couple of things, the motors never seem to fail (although mine had a bit of a thermal incident) and the issue is almost always the temic module itself. Damp doesn't seem to be good for them at all (funny that!).
I've replaced one with a replacement from e-bay which works well for £20, but its lost the auto close function and won't reprogram, so it only goes up in steps of an inch, meaning I have to operate the switch multiple times to get it to open / close.
I've just found this video on a possible repair to the temic itself. I have about 3 faulty ones, so will give it a try.

Theres also a .pdf which takes you through the repair step by step, which I've linked to below.
http://www.chipgods.com/RegRepair.pdf
Now I know how to get in to the temic module, I'll take one of the faulty ones apart and see if I can fix it. I'll report back when I've had a go!

One final thing, if you replace the temic and the switch works the wrong way round, undo the 4 torx screws which hold the motor casing in place, carefully remove it and rotate it through 180 deg, the motor will then work in the correct direction! Becareful when removing the casing, as the armature will want to come out with it, just use a wooden skewer (anything that isn't metallic that wont damage it will do) to hold things in place. The casing contains 2 magnets, so there will be some resistance.
