Hi everyone.

Just picked up a nice nugget of information for anyone wanting to use a new model JVC head unit with the stalk controls.

Obviously as discussed in other threads, you will need to purchase the PC99-X12 (or equivalent for your model of car) & PC99-JVC.

The instructions found in the Autoleads documentation are somewhat misleading if you have purchased a new model JVC head unit.

The basics are still the same within the wiring. Plug in the looms, swap over the red & yellow leads so the permanent feed goes to the correct pin etc.., but as JVC have changed the way the 3.5mm jack works, the rest of the Autoleads documentation is useless.

Whereas the old JVC units & Autoleads kit used to just pop in the 3.5mm jack, on newer head units, the jack socket is only for the JVC optional bluetooth accessory, rendering the PC99-JVC 3.5mm jack useless.

To overcome the problem, the following needs to be done.

1. Check head unit documentation to verify your new head units jack socket is indeed for a bluetooth adaptor.

2. Check the wiring loom in the JVC box. There should be one cable not attached to the ISO box. Should be marked "Steering wheel control"

3. If both 1&2 apply, cut the jack plug off of the PC99-JVC, showing three wires. From memory, there will be one black, one white, and one red cable.
Tape up the black and white leads, ensuring they are not touching each other, and connect a bullet connector to the red lead.

4. On the "Steering wheel control" lead coming from the JVC loom, connect another bullet, and connect to the red cable coming from the PC99-JVC.

Once all this is done, dry test your installation, and you should find your stalk controller will now work.

This information is not available from the Autoleads website to my knowledge, but is available from their tech support line if you want to pay 60p per minute.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

bought adaptors from CONNECTS2 and had same problem. After putting male bullet connector on blue/yellow "Steering wheel control" lead from JVC head and connecting to red lead from CONNECTS2 adaptor (this should already have a female bullet connector) the stalk control worked again. The 3.5 mm jack plug is obsolete and can be left unplugged. Easy and straight forward once you have the correct information.

Cheers!
