Megane brake lights not working

I have a Renault Megane Estate 54 reg, and the brake lights are not working. My husband has changed the bulbs and checked the fuses, but all are ok. I have read on some sites that there is a brake switch near to the brake pedal, but I cannot find it. I can find a switch above the clutch, and don't want to mess with it for obvious reasons. Does anyone know where to find the switch for the brakes? Thanks

Hi thanks for that. I did look up under the dashboard, and have pulled the carpet back but to be honest I really don't know what I am looking for

Re: Megane brake lights not working

Most brake light switches are the plonger type and will be close to a moving part of the brake linkage.

Have a hunt on good old fleabay - you should find a picture of one.

Yes the brake switch is always usually by the moving part of the brake on most cars I've saw
