Having a bit of a problem, reverse lights not working, have changed reverse light switch checked fuses and bulbs and still not reverse lights.
Is there anything else i can check?
For megane mark 1 phase 2
Check fuse 19 again. This fuse should also work rear wiper so if that works the fuse should be ok.
You will need a test lamp to check-
Test for live through fuse.
If fuse is ok you need to check for live in and out of reverse light switch.
If live comes through switch, test at white wire on rear lamps.
I have narrowed the problem down and the wire going to the reverse light switch is only reading 2.3v so i need to trace this wire to were it connects to,is there anywhere i can download wiring diagram
The switch is brand new,its the wire that clips onto switch we removed this and checked voltage with ignition on and only 2.3v is going through so not enough to work switch,if you understand what i'm trying to say,lol as i don't know myself
OK, so there's only one wire. This means that the switch will connect the wire to earth. Try shorting the wire to a good earth. This should bring the reverse lights on. If it doesn't, then you're looking at...
a problem between the switch and the lights
a problem between the lights and the fuse-box
a high resistance fuse
unlikely, but a problem with a relay, or the wiring connected to it.
Don't forget, it's not impossible for a new switch to be faulty?
I have now found the problem, the connector that clips onto the reverse light switch has 2 wires coming from it running to fuse box under bonnet, they are white and yellow i exposed these 2 wires and there brakes in the wire in a few places, they seem to have corroded some how.
Thanks all for your advice :d
