I do it like Superman with my arm stuck out - works a treat! And why do we have to do it - freakin' women! I lock my car and we get half way across the car park and the missus says "Did you lock the car?". And what do you do then - doubt yourself and go back to check. Not anymore! Now I zap my head and all's fine with the world!
Wasn't a back issue you were reading was it mate? April 2005 perhaps
I've got to give this a try tomorrow!
Nope, this months, just arrived the other day. It does sound a bit far fetched though I must admit. You will have to make sure the person on the other end of the phone is out of range of the car, or they'll just open it anyway...lol

I thought I'd share this tip than was in this months Motor magazine (the magazine of the Institute of the Motor Industry). I haven't tried it so can't vouch for it working, but just passing it on.
It said if you're locked out and have a spare keyfob at home and know someone is in. Phone home and get them to hold the spare keyfob near the phones microphone while they press the button on the keyfob. At the same time you hold your phone close to the car.
The radio waves are supposed to be carried over the phone and unlock the car. I have my doubts about it being possible, but it was sent in by a mechanical engineer, so don't think it was a wind-up (it's not that sort of magazine anyway, it's an IMI members only magazine).
Feel free to give it a try to see if it works.
