Should there be a black relay in the fuse box that controls the the central locking when used with the push button key fob?
In my fuse box i have 6 relay sockets.
A row of 5 (with the first three populated - from left to right as you look directly at it) and then 2 empty sockts (socket D & socket E) and above this row of 5 relay sockets their is 1 relay socket on its own.
Is this the relay that should be in one of the empty relay sockets ? Renault part number 7700311966
Any help and advice will be most gratefully received.

i will take a picture of my relay layout on my kangoo later as i seem to have more fitted than your picture also get the relay numbers we may be able to solve this between us

this is what i have found so far
the 2 relays i have extra on my van one works the c/ locking (top right picture above) i pulled them both and found the internal light would not work on the key fob
when i replaced them it worked but just by chance i had the passenger door open and the c/ locking was trying to work oh and this was also after i unplugged the connector and replugged it in on the door post
so drivers door not working so i did the same on the connector on the door post but nothing so i put a meter to the 2 wires in the connector pressed the key fob and it had power followed the wires into the door and found one had been cut reconnected it and the drivers door know works on the keyfob
so maybe worth you getting a meter onto your door post connector and see if you have any power when you press the keyfob

ah right... now i have seen the comparison with yours I'll have to have a look and fish around behind as obviously the previous owner had deliberately gone to great lengths to decommission it.
When you have a few moments to spare could you be so kind as to let me know what are the part numbers of the two relays that i don't appear to have please ?

ok the black relay works the keyfob
number 7700311966
12v
no idea what the grey one does
if i remove the relay (black) the keyfob stops working but the button in front of the gearstick still works the doors
Ron
let me know if you need any more info
when you open the passenger door you will see a side panel with 2-3 screws with this removed you can see partly behind the fuse/relay panel

Hi, this may sound stupid but have you checked the batteries in the fobs, many years ago our 1999 (ish) megan had the same problem, the R/dealer told us that even though the red fob light flashed the battery did not have enough power to transmit.
I have just come back to the forums after having no end of broadband problems. I have an issue with my 2002 Lag which has a central locking/door lock problem. Your discussion has pointed me at looking at things from a different angle and I wonder if there is anyone out there who can help all of us further.
The connectors in the door pillars are easily accessible assuming you are able to open the front doors of a laguna, and presumably most other models.
What would be really usefull would be a pinout of the connectors so that with a bit of simply electrics wire and switches a "manual" control system could be cheaply created to plug into the door side of the connectors to enable testing of the lock motors.
Another question I have regarding the relays is:
Does the one relay control the locks on all 4 doors? or is there more than one relay (The reason I ask is I am unable to lock or unlock my rear doors and they are currently locked)
Thanks for any help and I will do what I can to assist in return.
my kangoo has basic windows so the door pillar only has 2 wires
also only a 3 door with boot so unable to help with your rear doors could be worth starting a new thread to get other members attention

Hello i'm having a issue getting my keyfob to work the central locking after seeing this thread i'm thinking could it be the relay at fault ?
i have tried to re-sync using the standard method but this is not working
also while i'm on the subject of relay can you tell me which relay works the windscreen wiper i remember a few year ago it blew so ive just got by so far with not using one but i would like to get it back working were the wipers work intermittent
Hi guys i have now got this solved and back working after finding a post on here saying about a central locking relay made me realise that there is a relay purposely for the central locking fob which i was totally unaware about , i have messed with these relays before as i have had the wiper one go faulty and also the indicator one , had i known there was one for the central locking this would of been the first place i would of looked but not one of the two mechanics i went to even suggested this they talked more about faults with the keys or door motors
After finding out which one was my central locking relay (the longest black one in the fuse box ) i realised the last time i had them out i must of put it back in the wrong place... and that's what has caused it to stop working! so over 12month off and on trying to get this back working i can now say it is lol
as you can see by the images the central locking in the white female
