Having recently swapped my 2003 Laguna 2 1.9 dCi Privilege for a 2007 Laguna 3 2.0 dCi 150 Dynamique S, I have an annoying problem. I have my Garmin Nuvi satnav mounted on the windscreen in exactly the same place on the new car as I did in the old. And I have the power lead patched into the feed for the cigarette lighter just as I did in the old car. However, when I plug the power lead into the sat nav I get interference on the radio (FM). The same happens but to a lesser extent when I plug in the cigarette adapter to the satnav. If I unplug the power lead and just run the satnav on its battery the radio interference ceases. This never happened in my old Laguna. Anyone have any idea why it happens in the new one?
The most common causes of interference are usually down to poor earth connections.
This could be down to poor connection, earth shielding on wires inadequate or broken.
It may even be down to the location of the electronics in the new car, causing interference.
May also be worth checking the aerial connections etc on the car radio to make sure that is secure and clean.
Interference can be difficult to track down and you may have to persevere and try eliminating various leads etc one by one.
Thanks I will check these. Is the aerial and it's connections in the same place on the Lag 3 as on the 2? i.e. Aerial in rear window, connections and earth under trim around inside of hatchback.
