Rear lights fault not bulb!

Hi all!
02 reg espace 2.2cdi went in for Mot and failed on
1. lower suspension ball joint, done, bugger to do!
2. CV gaiter, obviously opposite side to ball joint, done, bugger to do!
3. 2 new tyres, easy, someone else did it!
4. Rear brake pads, not too bad, what is the correct way of opening up the caliper so that new pads fit!

And finally stop light very dim and indicator comes on too! I need help, fuses and bulbs all ok so where do i go now! manual does not tell me where relay is. If i disconnect the rear light unit it still happens.

Please help, electrics not my strong point!

Re: Rear lights fault not bulb!

4)- with one of these, having used one for the first time just a couple of months ago they do make the process a lot easier.

As for the dim bulb - do you have a towbar fitted? if so could the brake line be earthing thus reducing the current available?
If not then I would look for a bad earth. One test you can try is to connect a multi-meter to the brake line and see what volts are being passed (should be 12v obviously) and if attaching the return side to the chassis makes a difference.
