Red face megane scenic immobiliser sensor

Hi I'm Anne
am new here and wonder if anyone can help.
I went to car wash it broke my ariel off this week heavy rain, now have leak in light section and my key will not activate sensor to open or immobilise car.
I have been told by Renault that the sensor is on the rear view mirror, yet reading some posts it says sensor is inside light fitting on roof.

Can someone tell me how I replace this

If the sensor is an infra red one it should look like a dark piece of plastic like the end of a TV remote. Behind which is a small circuit board. On my Clio it is next to the interior light and sunroof control - just slides out with a bit of wiggling or gentle persuasion with a flat blade/screwdriver.

Sometimes just drying it out with a hairdryer and reconnecting it does the trick. If it needs a new one go to a salvage yard (found online these days) or a Renault dealer if you prefer a new one and can afford it.

It should still work with the same key - the code is held by the key and the control unit and engine computer elsewhere.

Make sure you reseal the aerial when you replace it - a squirt of silicone or bath sealant does the job.

welcome to the forum. The other thing to do is remove the arial, clean under it and reseal with clear bathroom sealent to stop further ingress
