Clio - flat battery

I have a clio and a couple of weeks ago i had a new stereo put in it with a sub and amp. At the weekend my son sat in it playing music and i had to get it jump started. It started fine for the next two days and then on Wednesday it was dead, anyway i have bought a new battery and had to have a twisting part put on the new battery. Anyway a friend has put the new battery in today and its still dead. The lights come on when the new battery is connected but the car wont start. Friend said its probably the twisting part on the battery that the leads have to be connected to or it could be the alternator. Can anyone help

welcome to the forum. You can get the battery and alternator output tested by an auto electrition, however first off I would make sure that all connectors are tight and clean, and that all earth straps in the engine compartment are tight and rust free. the connectors at the back of the starter are prone to coming loose.
