Espace electrical hassle!!

Hi all, new to the Renault forum...needing help/ advice on an electrical problem please.
I own a 3ltr V6 Espace ('94 K reg) which gives the impression of having a flat battery if I don't use it for more than 24 hours. I have had new battery/ alternator/ starter-motor..all to no avail. Has been suggested that a bad earth strap may be the cause, but I had that checked too..not that!!/
Anyone any ideas's drivin' me crazy..(when it will start, that is!!)
Please reply in here, or e-mail
Many thanks, Brian.

Hello Brian and welcome to the forum,

There are various possibilities with your flat battery problem. Some things need to be checked first, however:

1. Has the alternator output been checked?

2. Has the battery voltage been checked when it is performing as it should, then checked again, 24 hours later?

If you have a multimeter, you can do these checks yourself. If so let me know and I'll explain the procedure.

Assuming (bad thing to do) that the new components you mention that have recently been fitted are all OK, then it would appear that there is an excessive current draw somewhere which is draining the battery over a 24 hour period. This can be confirmed with a battery voltage check as above.

Go around the vehicle and check everything, such as interior lights not extinguishing, all accessories actually off when they should be off, etc.

Come back and let us know what you find.

Don't forget the boot/hatch area either. I had one that stayed on in old Marina!

Currently in Deano's garage:
