Question Gordon

Hi there - this is probably a very minor thing but does anyone know why the fog light indicator on the dash flickers when I tap the brake. This does not have any effect on any of the rear lights or seem to cause any problems but just bugs me.

wiring or earth

it sounds like a bad earth to do with lights you may have to check all your earthing points or it might be wires shorting out around the brake pedal area its worth a try to start with that hope this helps

Bad earth on one of the tail light clusters is the prime suspect. Chances are it will be having other side-effects, such as the lights not showing correctly when you brake with the side lights on or brake and indicate together.

Get someone to turn on the hazards and side lights, and hold the brake pedal down (with the ignition on) then look at the lights and see if they're working okay. I suspect they won't be.
