Unhappy Tyre Pressure Sensors????

Do we really need these on our cars? Money making scam again from the manufacturers. I am sick and tired of mine, been to Renault dealership twice with N/S/F needing replaced the other three were work great for the passed six months, when i got my car back ten minutes down the road I have none on my o/s Car has been back twice now and reprogrammed still not working, Renault claim they can't(won't) turn the sensors off but I believe the dealership is at fault as these two sensors were work fine.
Can anyone help, Cheers.

I know exactly what you mean , my tyre sensors work fine and then as soon as the temparture drops below 6c the display starts flashing one wheel and then as the temparture drops adegree another wheel starts flashing and the I loose a wheel all together on the display , im thinking of getting some little hats for them to keep them warm, but seriously I have heard that the sensors can be switched off , no main dealer, one of those garages that have the renault computer gear , the trouble is finding one that will do it

Why bother!!! how did we ever manage before sensors? my Lag II is the first car I've had with them on and because it's been freezing the voice tells me to check pressures but I just ignore it - never had any problems with all the other cars I've had!!
