Cheers Chris but, Jeez.....80 just for checking for a fault? What equipment does an indy need to do the check? I ask this as I obviusly need to find a local garage that has the right stuff to do the job.

re glow plug light

I took the car to a renault dealer who did a diagnostic check. They found the problem straight away as an exaust gas regulator ( egr valve).

They fixed the problem for 300 this included the diagnostic test which was 75.

Just done 6000 miles since the perfomance great and the light has not returned.

I hope this was of use

hi bud just found this thread on the forum search as it was posted a while ago its probably been sorted by now but I had the same problem exactly it been on the tester and is the egr valve thats at fault its not opening at high revs and the internal resistor in the unit sends a message to the ecu that there is a fault on the egr this puts the light on at the time when the valve should open because the valve has not opened to dump exaust gas the engine loses power try cleaning it first if no luck its a new one cost is 170#+vat from renault or about 400 fitted I bought one and fitted it my self works fine now also check for oil in the manifold when its off as this is the first sign of turbo oil leak problems

if you see this post and have got it sorted let us know how you got on

Renault megane fidhi 1.9 dci glow plug light problem

Hi everyone

ive got the exact same problem with my megane and im starting to pull my hair out.

it started just after i bought it so i took it to an independant garage who ran diagnostics and said there wasnt nothing wrong. 10000 miles later i took it for another service and told them it was still doing it and they said the e.g.r valve and two glow plugs needed replacement. I told them to do the work.

300 later and its still doing it only not as often.

Does anyone have any other ideas? The car has done 125000 but has always been serviced as per the service record.

Many thanks
