Megane glow plug warning

I drive a 1.9 dci megane 02 plate. As soon as I hit 70mph the glow plug warning light comes on.

Any ideas i've already changed all of the plugs, am I doomed to my last resort by using a main dealer?

Many Thanks

welcome to the forum. Am I right in thinking that the glow plug light is also the ECU light. (small orange box with heartbeat symbol) ? if so you may have another problem.

Welcome happy snapper

Do you mean this light came on?

This light was the bearer of very bad news for me at only 16 odd K miles, the light is also the engine management light which is telling you something is going wrong.

You need the fault codes reading off the clip or computer

In my case Renault first diagnosed a problem with the EGR valve which allegedly was sorted by replacement, after further problems they found out the turbo oil seals had gone, which had it not have been for the warranty would have been very expensive indeed.

re:megane warning light

It is the ECU /glow plug light in the centre of the dashboard. Further info that might help, light comes on at 2.5 rev's 70 mph and goes off at 2 rev 60 mph. When the light comes on the engine looses all acceleration (like trying to pull away in 3rd) I've contacted the main dealer who told me their tester only works upto 30 mph so they cannot help, what a bunch of donuts!!!, Its done 117000 miles mostly untroubled except the usual replacments, any help would be gratefull

Just did a search and found this thread (see some of us do ).

Reason is that my glow plug light yesterday started to 'flash' on and off when I overtook a bloody slow tractor. Car was under heavy acceleration as I hadn't chosen the best place to manouver . This has happened on just one occasion before. Would this also be connected to some problem the ecu is picking up?

If I need to take it to a main dealer to read the ecu would they charge for this? If so, anyone know what sort of price area this would be?
