laguna 2 oil level sensor iffy?

Hi
For the last few days my SERV light and low oil level is displayed how been coming on intermittently on my Laguna 1.9dci.
I can start the car all is ok drive down the road stop the engine, restart 5 minute later or so both warnings come on.
Left the car on level ground and checked the oil level next day, level was ok started the car no warning light. us the car later that day both warning come on.

I suspect it's the level sensor is playing up, Can anyone tell where it is, what type of sensor it is and how to check it out.

Does the on board diagnostic function display info on this sensor?

Thanks for any help

Sorry to resurrect this oldish thread but as I am also having this problem on my 51 plate Laguna 1.9dci dynamique. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions or where the sensor is and how to check it.
It only happens once in a while as my car very rarely seems to give an oil level display on the dashboard display but when it does it always says empty on give the oil & service light warnings even though the oil level is correct on the dipstick. It has happened when I park my car on my sloped driveway at home but also the flat driveway at work.

Oil Level sensor

According to the Haynes manual the oil level sensor is located on the front of the engine next to the oil filter witha twin cable connector - they suggest removal is done easier from under neath the car. It may well worth checking the condition pf the connector and cables.

As madnoel says there is a small plug and socket just below the oil filter to the right, the wiring on these does tend to get a bit brittle after a while. I dropped a socket drive onto mine while doing something to another part of the engine and the wiring snapped on one of the connections, I had to rewire it using a small block connector.
