I rang Renault and they said that because the unit has been powered down I need a boot disk to start it back up and quoted me £130 for this.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct as I don't want to waste any more money buying this disk if I don't need it,plus I think Renault are just clutching at straws being that they diagnosed it incorrectly in the first place.
Firstly, what does the display show with the new units fitted?
Secondly, what colour is the Sat Icon on the display?
Thirdly, from your original description it sounds like a problem with your GPS aerial.
Finally, dont pay anymore money - yet.

Sat Nav Problem

Hi,the dish icon is on the screen and that is green, there is no cd icon there as the cd wont stay in the drive long enough to read it,it just comes up with the message NO CD INSERTED IN DRIVE. Oh forgot to mention I had a new receiver fitted on the roof first.

Yes it is probably the Aerial, I changed mine and it now works fine, the aerial itself is about £75 from the dealer and can be fitted by yourself with no special tools, takes about an hour...

Somebody mentioned a while ago that there was a way of 'rebooting' the disc drive, theres that many threads with that many replies on this subject that i cant find it, anyone recall how you do it? aside from taking it to Renault its the only thing i haven't tried.
