Hi Can anyone help me please?
I have a 2008 clio extreme and the other night when i went out the lights around the heater control were all not working. The heater etc all work and so does the light on the back windscreen de-mister. It was the night of the really bad rain (but its always raining and no problems before) and they came back on ten mins into journey. Been ok all week but tonight it did it again! No lights at all over whole journey. Cant believe it can be rain as its always raining and no probs before. Bit worried it might all catch fire!

Had the same on my Scenic, I removed the unit and took it apart, there was corrosion on the circuit board, cleaned up the circuit board and fitted new bulb holders and bulbs. It's not occurred again but I guess it's only a matter of time before they corrode up again. Moisture must be getting in somewhere. I'm not sure on the clio unit but on the scenic one, be careful of the springs inside when you take it apart, took me a while to find them all again.

I used to tap the dash which made them work for a while but eventually, hitting the dash had no effect. Brute force and ignorance was not the answer.

Could be corrosion or duff bulbs. My megane seemed to break the bulb filaments, so it wouldn't light, then going over a bump it would work, then it failed again. The bulbs don't take much power so I wouldn't expect it to start a fire, unless it's the main feeds to the fan, etc, which do take enough current for that.
