Second Hand ECU

I'm new to this forum so hi there to everyone and thanks for any advice you can give. I have a 2004 Clio Dynamique which suffered slight damage when I skidded on a wet surface. Resulting in the passenger side air bag being released. My question is; if I buy a second hand ECU from a Clio which was not damaged in any way and the air bags were not released, will this work as a replacement. I have heard conflicting stories for various garages that this cannot be done as each one is programmed to a particular car, so a new replacement is necessary. Others say it can be used, but it would need reprogramming by a Renault garage. Any advice from anyone with previous experience of this would be appreciated.
Nearly forgot, is it the same story if I was to get a second hand key fob. My local Renault garage said I would have to buy a completely new key. Thanks, Mark

The first bunch were right. These items are next to useless second-hand, and you'd need to get a 'paired set' to stand a chance of getting them to work.

So at the very least, you'll need the ECU and the UCH . Then the UCH might need reprogramming to handle differences in the accessory specifications of the two cars. On top of that, you'll also need the keys, and you'll have to swap the blades from your existing keys into the remotes from the donor car.

It might be possible, but it's not going to be easy.

Was the ECU physically damaged? I'd be very surprised if it can't be reset after an airbag deployment (though I'm ready to be corrected.)
