Clio Regulator Units

NSF Electric Window regulator made a crack and stopped working.

Stripped door down, removed unit. A small white piece of plastic had snapped right off. Been told I have to replace the whole unit. Main dealer quotes well over 100 quid. Looking for suggestions on a cheaper fix.

Would a unit from another Renault model fit ??
Could I get a manual unit, strip that, and make a good electric unit with the one I have ?

I have exactly the same problem.

I called my local Renault dealer to ask for the small white clip and he said I had to buy a new regulator - I was quoted 160 plus VAT (not fitted).

I called around loads of vehicle dismantlers and most of them told me they now stock new regulators as they are asked for the small white clip so often!!

After that I eMailed Renault to ask them why they did not provide a cheaper solution for something that is obviously a design fault but they told me they had no knowledge of it!

So if anyone out there has a cheap fix I would like to know too!!

For the record I have also had this problem with both front doors on my Lag II

I think I am right in saying that it's not the clip failure that causes the problem but the wear and tear on the cables. They fray and then the system becomes damaged. The white cips on the Laguna seem to be designed specifically to break out of their soft mountings if the system is under too much tension thus avoiding an accident of wires snapping under very high load.

I paid 60 for the regulator from a local french car salvager but got a windscreen repair place to fit it ( just in case I dropped the glass ).
