Removing an Immobiliser from Megane 97

Hi folks.
I have only joined and I am seeing already a heap of enquiries about Immobilisers. Mine just packed in tonight. I got the emergency code so I can manually enter it. My key needs re coded, and the Renault guys are saying I need a new key. The light on the key is flashing but it is not clicking the immobiliser so can I just get my key recoded or do I actually need a new key? If so can I get one other than at Renault, which is costing me over 100. I had to lie to them to get the emergency code because they were looking me to tow it to them and charge me 60 when they should have just give it to me over the phone. Can I remove the damn thing altogether? If so who should I contact? Please help!! I have read various articles on the website but nothings helped so far.

welcome to the forum. There have been a lot of posts regarding immobilisers. try a forum search for some more answers on the subject
