Engine Speed Sense (RPM) Wire

I'm fitting a Cruise Control to a Renault Trafic 04 1.9 dCi. Found all the wires except the RPM Sense. I'm sure it must be somewhere on the instrument cluster, but need some assistance.

The instrument cluster appears to be a pretty standard renault part. Has anyone else any experience of this?

Many thanks

It'll be a digital instrument cluster, and there's a good chance that the data arrives from the ECU via multiplex rather than as a pulse.

Your best bet would probably be to tap into the output from the Top Dead Centre sensor under the bonnet.

Does the cruise definitely need the RPM sense line to operate? Most of the after-fit ones I've seen only needed the vehicle speed sense. If push comes to shove, this can be achieved by a magnet and coil pick-up arrangement on one of the driveshafts.
