1998 clio sunroof leak / immobiliser problem

i own a 1998 clio and a few days ago my sunroof leaked, which then led to the immobiliser getting really wet.
i assumed that once it dried off it would work as normal, as this has happened before...
however this time it is not working as normal.

the central locking does not work at all, and the car wont start at all every time you try, unless you point the key really close to the immobiliser and keep pressing it until it eventually picks up the signal.

does any one know how i go about solving this problem ?
do i need a new immoiliser or can my current one be repaired?
if i do need a ne wone how much do they cost and will i need a new key?

welcome to the forum. ~Have you removed the IR unit from the headlining and given the lens a good clean. Also give it a good spray with electrical contact cleaner (the unit not lens and esp. the contacts at the back and the multiplug.

Chek the Clio FAQ, there are a few good threads re sunroofs / leaks / immobiisers there.
