Question windsrenn wiper hell !!!!

is there anyone out there that can help.
i own a megane coupe (98) and have had it for 2 years. The start of last year the wipers started playing up, wouldnt work on intermittent but worked on slow and fast. took it to garage and they changed the relay and stick, everything seemed to work fine then winter came and they started to play up again with the same problem and then a couple of months later they started working fine again untill this weeekend.
Im going to have to take it to a garage again but i was wondering if anyone else has had this fault and if so do u have any suggestion to why this is happening. Its driving me
Any ideas would be most welcome.

Just a general comment but maybe the mechanical linkages which convert the rotation of the wiper motor to the wipers arm are badly corroded or worn or buckled. This increased load maybe damaging the electric components or even just the fuse.

Would try getting a replacement wiper motor and lubricating all the linkages..

We had an Orion that did the same thing. I fixed it by repeatedly flicking the wipers on for a split second (just long enough to get them to start wiping) and letting them return on their own. Not that this trick will always work - I reckon I just got lucky.

There are two power supplies to the wiper motor: One that's only powered when the wipers are switched on or the intermittent relay sends a pulse, and another one that's 'always on' which returns the wipers to the 'park' position when you switch them off. This second circuit doesn't really get a lot of use, and the contacts can get mucky as a result. Forcing some power through them (with the trick I mentioned above) might just be enough to bring them back to life.

Of course it could just be an iffy connection to this second circuit, a fault in the motor, or even just a blown fuse. This circuit doesn't go through the wiper relay, so changing the relay won't make any difference.
