Just to let you know, it should really only take you twenty minutes at the most for this job as the electronic dashes are easy to get out, the wires to the rear of the dash are long enough to manouver the unit outwards to disconnect them and the bulbs are easily accessable also.

You don't have to take the cowling off... However, I would think if yours is a 2.2D, as opposed to DT it would probably have a cable drive speedo (I guess these are the ones with the non-digital odometer.)

Hi there,

Just thought I'd let you know that it all went very well. Funnily enough, once I'd got the steering wheel cowling off I found that the bottom screws weren't there, just like Leroy in the other thread, so I probably hadn't needed to take that bit off!

For anyone else who needs to know, the bulbs are Type 286, 12V 1.2W. I got them from my local motorbike shop for 30p each (although the bloke wasn't sure how much they were supposed to be so took a guess).

Anyway - thanks everyone for their help, I am now able to see how many miles the car's done (126000!).
