97/98 R Clio 1.2 Immobiliser problem

Hi Peeps,

My sisters car is a 1997/98 R reg Clio, 1.2.

The central locking doesnt work and the car wont start.

The immobiliser/central locking unit above the rear view mirror was damaged due to rain getting in, ive dried it out, cleaned it up and the car will not start or operate the central locking.

Question I want to ask is, I pulled out another unit from a breakers yard, fitted it this morning and still nothing, no central locking and the car wont start.

Can I use the new unit I got from the breakers yard, as the old one is totaly knackered and beyond repair ?

Can I bypass the immobiliser or anything ?

Whats my options guys ?

Thanks very much,

Hi Chips - there is a way of getting around the immobiliser but you need a code from Renault who usually charge a tenner. Have a lok at the link below
