help! mobile fone test for infared car fob

Nice to meet you all as I've just joined and wondered if you could help.
Ive read that there is a test to see if a key fob is working by using a mobile phone..... anyone out there that could tell me what i do please?
Having trouble with my megane (1998) model key fob. The silly rubber button is not working properly and activating/deactivating cent locking, immobiliser etc.
I've tried new batteries and nothing.
What can I do and how much does it cost for a new key and code?
thanks everyone

If the problem is not the battery then it is probably a solder joint becoming detached/fractured.
Take the fob apart and it may appear obvious.
Good luck

The test is basically using any digital camera / camcorder. Point the key at the camera lens and push the key button, looking in the view screen of the camera you should see a blue light on the key if the plip is working.
