Question Renault - Laguna - Keycard Problem

Hi, i'm new to using a Forum but i'm hoping some-one will be able to help me. I've purchased a new Keycard for my Laguna off a vehicle shop on ebay , however, main dealer says the card cannot be programmed, i've also contacted a couple of auto locksmiths who have said the same, and the place that sold me the key will not refund me as he assures me the key can be programmed? if it can then can anyone point me in the right direction.

Hi there,

I don't know if this will fix your problem, but it worked on mine when my battery ran out, and subsequently lost its code (although it was an original card).

open you car with your original keycard, and then use the other cardkey to start the engine. If it starts it will have reprogrammed.

It's got to be worth a try - if not I sure there must be a technical solution out there somewhere

Hi Staunt - looks like you've been conned - each keycard is unique and cannot be reprogrammed - the car must be reprogrammed to suit the card and for obvious security reasons Renault will only use a new card supplied by themselves. In other words if the person who sold you the card and it fitted - how long do you think your car would be around. Whilst the keycard system is not cheap when it comes to repairs it is also one of the most secure. Why did you need another card anyway or did you only get one with the car as Renault supply two when new. If you have two cards and one os broken it may be able to be repaired.
Good old Flea-bay again.

Hello & Welcome to the Forums Stauntc.

Unfortunately you seemed to have been conned. Ask the supplier of the card where and how can you get the card programmed ?
