Unhappy Feeble Scenic II horn

Is it just me or is the Renault fitted car horn on the Scenic II very quiet ?? My model is an 06 1.9dci Oasis.

I've queried it with my local Renault dealer, who just said, "Oh yes, that's normal". Really helpful !

So, like most things under the bonnet on this car, is it difficult to get to and change for a louder one ?

Any help and or guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi there.

Most horns are located behind the front bumper, and are accessible from below the spolier. I would give it a good look first, it may be a dirty/loose connection reducing the current to it (thereby weakening the sound). Sometimes there is a screw adjustment on the horn itself, which can alter the tone/pitch.

Other than that, its normally a straightforward item to replace.

Hope that helps,

Yeah the Scenic II & Megane II have very poor horns fitted, There is a thread in the Forums on fitting a louder horn.

i must say most cars standard horns are not very loud i replace the standard one with a set of two tone air horns on all of my vehicles that i get(due to my job i get a replacement vehicle every three years or so) gives them a bit more PARRRP than peep so to speak.

Air horns are technically illegal on any vehicle made after a certain date.....1970 something I think.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
