Hi ChampionC, at last after trawling through the net trying to find someone with the same problem we found you! Our 97 Scenic has developed the exact same fault, I would be really interested to know if the fuse cleaning solved the problem. Every time this happens on our Scenic we find we can fix it by opening and slamming the bonnet!!! Great frustration relief but gets a bit tiresome.

Hi there,

Cleaning the two flat connectors on the fuse together with the socket itself certainly fixed this problem. I used a nail emery board to clean the fuse socket.

There are three places that can cause power loss problems. Given that it works by just slamming the bonnet, it would be worth for you to confirm the source. If you open the bonnet and then just wiggle the fuse around, does the power drop out ?

I also found that the rings around the screw on connectors onto the battery terminals gave a bad connection so I cut them off and replaced them with standard ones.

The third connection is under the plastic door sill on the drivers side, basically just below the bonnet pull handle. There is a link in the battery to bonnet connection. I personally never had a problem with this but I read elsewhere that others did

Hope this helps
