Removing parking sensors

I'm trying to get my parking sensors out to clean up the connections to resolve an on going problem.

I've tried prising the bumper trim off to get at them but the back of the sensors seem too big to fit through the slot in the bumper. Is this a bumper off job?

It is easier with the bumper off - they sit in the bumper strip and are held in by expanding lugs on the rear. It is possible to get a hand to them from underneath but it is then finding the expanding parts to squeeze them in to enable withdrawal of each sensor.
Removing the complete bumper is not too difficult and takes about 30 minutes.

I too have a problem with parking sensors if anyone can help. One of the sensors has been pressed in and is now rattling around in the bumper space. I was wondering about what holds them in place and would the expanding lug still work a second time. It would seem like I would have to push th sensor in from the back. Is this also a bumper removal first, and can you offer any instructions.
