Unhappy 2001 Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v orange warning light on!

Karen, I think i'm having the same sort of problem as you.
I drive a 2001 Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v petrol. Its the orange light in the middle of the dash that looks like a heart monitor with a coil underneath. Its been coming on for about 4/5 months once maybe every 2 weeks usually when stopping and starting when crawling in traffic. The symptoms are usually the engine not ticking over as it should and wanting to cut out while becoming very jerky. Usually the light and symptoms disappear when I hold the revs for about 8-10 seconds at about 2500rpm. But now the light has come on without any symptoms and won’t disappear.

Very confusing but can anyone help me please?

welcome to the forum Gaz. It does sound similar to Karens problems. The light staying on means that a fault has been logged in the ECU . This can be read by a dealer (£80) or an auto electrician (c£35) to give a better indication of the problem. The coils if at fault are a cheap and easy replacement but if not done can damage the CAT.

I have this problem and need some advice cos meant to be travelling to football tonight in Liverpool from York.

Last wk my clio was serviced and mot'd and they tried to fix the wiring loom problem that they all suffer from. They did a decent job and stopped it cutting out but it was still rough at idle and misfired a bit.

This morning driving to work the emissions light came on flashing and power seemed down. If it's a coil (s) gone, if I replace it/them could they just go again if the wiring is dodgy? Is it safe to drive over the M62 tonight or could it die?
