door speakers question

I have recently purchased a 1998 Clio 1 and the standard speakers are poo, i was wondering what the size is for the door speakers. I think they may be 4" and if they are is it possible to replace the old ones with a new pair of 4" without doing any cutting e.t.c?

Bit of a newbie question i know!

Hi pvsmark what i would tend to do on the likes of this is to take the door panel speaker cover off unscrew the speaker at one side unplug the speaker and take it with you when you are looking around to see if you could get a near match,i hope this helps Donald.

Hi there and welcome to Renault Forums, most speakers these days are standard sizes, the easy way would be to remove one of the old ones and take in to a local car audio dealer and I'm sure they would let you do a comparison with the speakers they have in stock, the only worry is the depth of the new units especially if the magnets are larger than the originals. Also you may find the original speaker cables have a small plug on the end which may not fit the new ones so you would have to remove this and rewire,
