Hi melly, no you dont ... but you may need to move some of the hoses/wiring out the way to get better access (you dont need to disconnect them though)

Make sure the ribbed washer/seal (its red or green I cant remember ) on the electrical connector is still in place and intact, as this is the usual point where water or crud gets in .... if it is just spray it with WD40 or similar so it makes a good seal when replacing the connector in the sensor.

Hope it helps

Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?

Hi it goes from the gear box to the back of the instrument panel in the car ie speedo; get a haynes book for your car or send it in to a garage it will not cost too much to change hope this helps Gareth.

I have exactly this same problem - my speed is intermittent, but borderline not working at all now.

I have clicked on the link on the previous page and (unless im being completely dumb), it doesnt take you anywhere just back to the front page.

I would really appreciate it if somebody could recap where this sender is, what it looks like and any problems there may be in replacing/ cleaning it.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Simon - have you tried the search facility - enter the text "speedo sensor" into the search box at the top of the forum screen - you may be surprised what a little effort will bring
