hi there yes the bic unit does work that way for all intence and purposes!
what I keep trying to explain to you is that the instrument panel will not shut down like you are describing if the immobiliser is playing up!
You need to thing less complex here! when you turn the ignition on the dash lights up as normal yes? red led goes out yes? crank engine and you then get a noise from the dash and everything goes blank yes! this is because there is a main power voltage drop!
try to think this way! you have 2 buckets filled with water these are linked together with 2 hoses got it so far? so 1 bucket is your battery the other is all your consumables the 1st hose out of the bottom of the bugket it your live feed the 2nd hose out of the bottom of your bucket is your earth! now what is happening to you is like taking a hose out of the bucket! what happens all the water comes out and this is what is happening when you turn the key to activate the starter the fault is like pulling the hose out and you get a massive power drop!
which is why I keep saying check all the earth conections to the engine take the off and clean them including the battery terminals they may be tight but it isnt unknown for there to be corrosion between the terminal and battery pole!

Hi, yes dash lights up, glow plugs do their stuff, coil goes out o.k comes up turn the key for final turn to engage starter, nothing, no starter solenoid being thrown forward no dying battery noises, no engine crank. Dash lights go out and don't come back on until soft boot carried out( until then nothing electrical works even if left for sometime, battery disconnected etc), noise from centre consul like a strangled duck which goes away if the side lights are turned on or ignition key turned thro one click.
Terminals the cleanest i have ever seen, threaded adaptors to terminal posts worked from side to side to get a good contact. Battery removed and underneath was a flat profile fairly wide piece of metal which i think is earth strap which is secure and shows no signs of corrosion.
this leads me to think that there may be a connection problem at Bii loose plug or corrosion to terminal which overwhelms the Bii and drops everything electrical and if this were dead then the screen would go dead like a voltage drop but i can't find the Bii to check it, regards

I have to agree with big show my immobiliser is done away with on my espace and my dash still beeps and flashes etc

Sounds like a main power wire somewhere or possibly an earth there are earths from the gearbox to the chassis under the battery also some below the passenger headlight from the loom

No doubt lots under dash not been in there yet
