NEW Immobiliser problem and questions GRRR!

Hi All. I have read many many scenic immobiliser problems on here and other forums. But please bear with me as I do think that I have more detail in my prob.

First to go on a bit, we are very skint and I am away soon leaving my wife who desperately needs her car for her senior care worker job and she is also just out of hospital recovering from pneumonia so public transport and waiting around for the AA is out of the question.

Right. I was driving home from visiting wife in hospital, oil light, stop light came on and immobiliser light started flashing, also the driver window was half down and wouldnt go back up. I got to Tesco garage 2 mins later and pulled over to check the oil . Keys into car, opened bonnet, checked oil , filled a little, got back in and it turned over lovely but wouldnt start. Immob light still blinking as usual.

AA came out 2 hours later and after 1.5hrs of tinkering and phone calls deducted it was the crankshaft sensor and said he could toe me home or to garage.

PROBLEM- Window down, wet weather and garage in bad unsecured area and it was 11pm. Brought it home, taped up the window, rushed to work (also carework). This was 25th-pm, 3 days ago. Tried all fuses, all ok. So why the oil light, stop light came on and why the window ceased working I do not know.

The AA man wasn't concerned with the window, the wierd lights and disregarded my comments of the immob light. His diagnostic Laptop link wouldn't communicate with my car. There was no power to several areas under the bonnet where there should be, where the spark plugs are etc. BUT when the ignition is first turned on there was power to these places for about a second.

The window doesn't work at any point, tried immediately after turning key, while trying to start etc. Nothing. The car itself turns over and occasionally starts for about 1 second, but no acceleration and just dies.

I strangely ran out of water that morning and a few weeks previous, and it has has the occasional intermittent starting prob where the first time it acts like the battery is low. Try again and it works. Sometimes nothing at all, all dash lit up but wouldn't turn over.

I have got a code for the immob (I think) BUT I have the ultrasonic one I think, no IR reciever. Have tried spare key too.

Sadly, the only answer on our budget was to cut our losses and scrap the car. Its totally unsolvable as far as we can tell, the only thing you can do is go to Renault, take none of their rubbish about new keys etc, and tell them to replace the ECU . The immobilisor is built into the ECU which is where the problems come from. You can buy your own ECU and fit it much much much cheaper then Renault, but it will run very badly using far too much fuel and so will need to be programmed by... Renault. Who may very well blag you into thinking that if they didnt fit it and it wasnt their part, they cant proigram it, so they will probably charge a fortune to reprogram or fit a new one again.

So... If you can cut your losses, or are as short of cash as we were, then you will be lucky to get 250 for it max. If you have some spare cash, go to renault, tell them the immobilior is locked and you need a new ECU and see what they want to charge.
