Lag II Alternator

Hi, I have just got hold of a replacement alternator for my 2001 Lagguna II 1.9dci. Can anyone let me know how to change it for the old one. The bolts seem totally inaccessable even with the inner wheel arch trim off. The fuel filter housing seems to block access from above. Any clues..Cheers. Simon

Hi Simon - yeh like most modern cars space is a bit tight - 1. staking the fuel filter out helps give a bit of space. The
Haynes manual isn't a great help but it says as follows
1. Disconnect the cables
2. Remove the auxilary belt
3. Remove the idler pulley
4. Loosen the alternator bolts
The say it isn't necessary to withdraw the top bolt entirely - just make sure the nut is removed and slide it forward and it should drop out of its supporting bracket which is slotted.
Just hope that is of some help - have plenty of band aids ready for your knucles
