Dashboard lighting

There are two Scenic II in our family (2000 and 2003 models) both has the same problem: when the front light is off and you push the break pedal, the dashboard lighting goes on. (since the DB lighting is on anyway when the the front light is on, I can not see the problem )
Any idea where to start? I assume this is a earthing problem, but where?

Sounds like you have a short in the rear lamps when the brake lights come on - check out the rear light clusters for dirty or duff connectors and terminals - could be caused by water ingress.
