Thanks for the response,yep have removed 2 x screws at bottom of instrument panel,had to remove upper steering column shroud to do that.
However didn't remove lower shroud,(three screws underneath)couldn't see that it would make any difference- is that my mistake?

nah, as long as you removed the 2 you can see when you take the top shroud off, but dont worry about taking the botton shroud off too, just to check..

Remember.... any secure covers on an object, the screws will have to PASS through.... sounds weird, but go round all the edges of the top dash looking for screws...

Heres some instructions i got with my B*stard autoleads that caused radio memory loss!

Oh yeah, you did remove the SIDE PILLAR COVERS didn't you (This bit gets me every time!) - To do this, pull them away slightly from the top, and tou need a long flat blade screwdriver to PUSH a grey catch near the top..... a torch helps in locating it and you need to pull the seals back...
