Can anyone give any help to my problem, I have a Renault Master 3.0 dci but this system is also fitted on the 2.5dci it has started this week, there is an orange warning light that comes on when you turn the ignition on, after a couple of seconds it goes out and that is it. According to the book it is a Water in the Fuel light or Electrical Fault.
The only thing is that it has started this week as has the tempreture dropping to freezing.
This week when you turn the ignition on the light does its normal thing except when you start the engine the light comes on again and stays on until the engine has been running for ten minutes or so, then you can stop the engine restart and it is fine, it will give no more trouble until the engine has been off for few hours.
Fuel filter has been changed and no water found.

Hi Ad I had a similar problem with my 1.9 Dci Laguna although the engine run well enough - after much hoking and poking I found the connector to the turbo pressure sensor was dirty - I give it shot of electrical contact cleaner and its been OK since - also check the connectors to the glow plugs. It seems of there is the slightest electrical problem yhis light will come one. As a matter of interest have you had the glow-plugs checked - they can be checked in situ., using a multi-meter:)

Hi madnoel10, thinking about this logically I think you may have fouund the problem, when the light stays on in a morning you are supposed to use the pre heat but i never do as it starts well in a morning just a flick and it is away, you should use the pre heat until the light goes out then start it.

I'd get the fault codes on the ECU read as the light is the engine management light as well as the glow plug light. There is a fault occuring in the system and this is being picked up by the ECU.

It could any one of a thousand things causing it,but if the codes are read it will point you in the right direction.:)

This is not quite correct as the EMS light is Red and the Glow Plug Light is Orange the light I have is orange and according to the book is Pre Heat or Water in Fuel if it comes on at start up and electrical fault and water in fuel if it comes on when driving. But I thanks anyway.

Hi Madnoel10,

Have had the Glow Plugs checked today and one is completely dead,we are trying to get a new set from Renault via VOR for tomorrow fingers crossed it could be sorted. Considering the luck I have had getting parts for this engine in the past it could be weeks or possibley weeks before they come. Fingers crossed now.

Hi Madnoel10,

I have tried that but the only ones we can get hold of quickly suprisingly are the Renault ones, I need them quick as I cannot afford to have the vehicle off the road. Anyway Renault have come up with a set via the VOR route, they are not cheap at £42 each but it cured the fault and all is well.
Thank You for your help.
