Thumbs down Wimpish Horn

I have just had my 05 Megane in for the a 72,000 Mile servicing, the Dealer called me at work to inform me that the Horn needs to be replaced as is was not working properly, as far as I am concerned it has been on the feeble to mega wimp side since I bought the car in March 05, they wanted to replece it at around 100 plus VAT, I refused but as the MOT is due in March 08 I will have to do something about it before then. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Have I grounds to complain to Renault UK?
Currently in Old Man's garage:

This seems to be a very common complaint, and if memory serves me right there is a 'How To' article on changing the horn.

Please don't pay 100 to have the job done, that is quite frankly a complete rip off!.If you don't want to attempt the job yourself, find a decent indepenant garage that would change it for at least half that price. An aftermarket horn would be around a tenner, and I suspect it will take no more than half an hour to replace.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....

On one or two cheaper cars I have had I replaced the feeble horn with a twin set from Halfords, for about 15.

If you don't know how, any garage would do it for you for half an hours labour charge, total of 40 maximum.

A problem well stated is a problem half solved !

Scrap yard job or get a new double reed horn for it.

On the RS range they have a double horn that sounds quite aggressive. I still wouldn't pay 100 for the job or the part tho.
