Problem Solved: Move car / unlock steering wheel

The car is moving again, though I have no idea what the core problem was.

The "solution" was to push the car forward and turn the wheel a bit (and unlock the steering wheel).

I tried this as I going to move the car to try a jumper cable (in case the battery was dead, which it appears that it was NOT).

Thus a little push saved a $600 repair.

I suspect that the imobiliser is not bad. Rather it must be a short somewhere (but where?).

Thanks to all who helped.

hi,rodotworks.if immobiliser light is flashing fast the most common fault is failure of the chip inside the remote which will require a new remote.but if you open the key and put the circuit board close to the ignition lock it may start as the chip signal is weak(the chip is the part on the board with the copper wire wound round).
Do this as you turn the ignition key.cheers biff
