computer and handbrake

Just got back from france where my electronic brake seized up (scenic 11) problem was battery related due to broken switch. The garage freed the brakes but warning light saying parking brake problem. They are saying that it is a computer problem and that it needs replacing. also when the parking brake is applied it makes a grinding noise. all sounds very expensive.
anybody with similar experiences??????

hello, My Parking brake is not working, but my battery was new a couple of months ago and has been fine.

I would like to know your outcome, to see if it helps me.

Kind regards
