Cd Player Died

I was wondering if anyone could help.

I have an 05 clio and its been fine, but suddenly without warning the cd player decides to die. The radio still functions correctly, and when a cd is put in it seems to work then gives a disc error, beeps and goes onto the radio.

I am not experienced with car steroes in any way, but i am a electronic engineering uni student so i thort i cud tinker a bit to fix it, any ideas what is wrong with it tho ???

thanks for any help

Hello & Welcome to the Forums Wrighty.

Use the Forums search facility input - Radio CD or just CD and it should throw up some info for you to use or discard

i took it into the garage (the same one i bought it from) and they told me it could not be done under warranty and that it would cost nearly 200 to get the radio replaced.....

Anyone have any ideas how i can try fix it myself

Hi wrighty43 - if your car is still under Renault warranty stand your ground and kick up stink or contact RCS .
It could be something as simple a moistire or dirt on the CD reading head

If you can get a hairdryer near it a warm blast of air may chase any moisture
