Smile Kangoo heater problems.. solution found

I have recently had the same problem as a few of you with my heater only running on full speed.

I have been to renault to be told that a new heater resistor will cost me around 40.00,, I dont think so!!! said I.

Remove the resistor set from under the wiper motor cowl. This is easily done with only the wiper arms needing to be removed.

Unplug the whole resistor set from the side of the fan houseing as you will need to take it to a bench.

Remove the heat sheild so you can see the two coiled resistors, in between them there is a small metal thermal fuse.

This is what you need to replace.

They are not difficult to change as there is no soldering, do not solder a new one in as it will damage it.
You can get the fuses from Maplins for about 70p, therefore saving around 39.00.

This is a simple repair and took me about 20 minits.

well worth it.

Good helpful post Don.

Some use the screw connectors from cable blocks to attach the replacement fuse.

Also I think there is a rating on the side of the existing fuse

Hi guys,
Excelent advice, cheers.
Can anyone tell me the rating for the fuse, or even better maybe a part number (Maplin, RS or Farnell)?

I may post some pics to help people in the future, as i managed to do the job without removing any of the wiper assembly, n doing it all just by feel from guesswork!
